Our Siskiyou Elementary School Concept
Our philosophy for elementary school, known as Philosophy for Children, inspires young learners to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through engaging discussions about philosophical questions. It empowers children to explore the ethical, aesthetic, political, and other dimensions of their experiences. Through the use of picture books, hands-on activities, and personal stories as discussion prompts, we create a safe and supportive environment where students feel encouraged to express their ideas and listen to one another.
Our Mascot: The Wolf Puppy
While a Wolf Puppy may not have a specific symbolic meaning beyond representing a young wolf, it embodies the promise of new life and the potential for growth.
Wolves, known for their unwavering family bonds and loyalty to their pack, inspire a spirit of freedom and independence. They exemplify intelligence, resourcefulness, strength, and courage, encouraging us to embrace these qualities in our own lives.
Our Color: California Orange Poppy
Orange poppies embody health and regeneration, radiating warmth, enthusiasm, and creativity. They symbolize abundance, harvest, and the divine presence. In many spiritual traditions, orange signifies the journey of spiritual growth, enlightenment, and the letting go of worldly pursuits.
This vibrant color is a beacon of positive energy, igniting creativity and encouraging
self-expression. Orange inspires personal growth, optimism, and a bright outlook on life.
