”Empowering every student

to thrive and succeed in

a fast-evolving world.“

Thermalito Union School District

Our School District

We prioritize student success, academic achievement, and a positive learning environment.

This involves strong leadership and effective teaching, along with a focus on both academic and social-emotional development. Additionally, we promote effective communication and collaboration among teachers, administrators, parents, and the broader community.

School districts are responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

1. Setting educational standards and curriculum:

They work to ensure that the curriculum aligns with state standards
and meets the needs of students.

2. Hiring and managing staff:

This includes teachers, administrators, and support staff.

3. Managing school facilities:

This includes maintaining existing buildings and planning for new construction or renovations.

4. Developing and managing budgets:

They must ensure that resources are allocated effectively to support student learning.

5. Providing support services:

This can include special education, transportation, and other services.

”Our vision is a powerful promise for the future of our students, grounded in our core beliefs, values, and priorities.“

At the Thermalito School District, we focus on intellectual development, a love of learning, and strong character.
Our commitment to core values and a rigorous academic program prepares students for meaningful lives.

We foster a diverse environment that values every voice.
By integrating academics, athletics, and the arts, we empower students to think independently and reflect critically, while also emphasizing environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.

Great Students Today.

World Changers Tomorrow.

Our Thermalito Promise.

Our Mission

Our goal as a school district is to equip students with essential skills and a positive mindset for success. We encourage students to embrace learning, strive for their best, and enhance their overall well-being. We aim to foster lifelong learning while upholding our five core values: Perseverance, Connection, Integrity, Legacy, and Opportunity.

Our Five Core Values

PRESEVERANCE

Perseverance is a vital skill that significantly impacts children's lives. It means working hard and not giving up, even when faced with challenges. Research shows that perseverance fosters resilience, helping children overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

While school can be tough, perseverance allows students to tackle difficult subjects and improve their learning outcomes. By learning to persist despite setbacks, children set themselves up for academic success and are better prepared for both academic and social challenges throughout their lives.

CONNECTION

Social connection and inclusion are vital for an individual's dignity, security, and quality of life. An inclusive school values all its members, helping them meet their needs and contribute to the community. We must recognize and nurture each individual's potential and diverse identities.

Research shows that strong connections with schools and teachers improve mental health, attendance, grades, and reduce disruptive behavior and dropout rates. When students feel cared for and valued, they develop a sense of belonging, leading to greater academic achievement and community engagement. Positive relationships are crucial for children to learn and thrive, enhancing their psychological, cognitive, and social development.

INTEGRITY

We will align our actions with our words, keep promises, and promote honesty, respect, trust, pride, and responsibility in our schools and community.

We are committed to acting consistently and ethically, always striving to do the right thing, even when not observed. Valuing integrity means prioritizing honesty and transparency while acting in the best interest of students, teachers, and the community.

LEGACY

We aim to create something lasting that can be passed down through generations. Our work will serve as a model for future generations, preserving memories and imparting valuable life lessons.

We strive to cultivate a source of pride and motivation, inspiring all our students—our greatest asset. Our mission is to provide guidance and inspiration to our students, teachers, and everyone influenced by us, encouraging them to lead lives that positively impact their futures, faith, homes, and communities.

OPPORTUNITY

A good opportunity empowers us to improve and explore various options. Life is shaped by circumstances, time, and place, which enable us to advance and thrive. Opportunities have four key qualities: they are appealing, durable, timely, and valuable when taken seriously.

"The Art of Opportunity" focuses on discovering growth opportunities for students and teachers and developing strategies to achieve them. True opportunities give us the freedom to grow and explore. Each moment brings unique circumstances that allow us to progress. An opportunity enriches every student's journey by being attractive, enduring, timely, and grounded in meaningful ideas or knowledge.

HISTORY OF THERMALITO

"A place that honors our history, embraces renewal, lives in the present, and looks forward to a promising future."

Thermalito (Spanish for "Small Thermal)

The Greek word therme, meaning “heat,” is the origin of the adjective thermal. Something that is thermal is hot, retains heat, or has a warming effect.

Thermalito is a census-designated place located in Butte County, California. It is considered an integral part of Oroville, bordering it on two sides. With a population of around 7,000, Thermalito features a mix of suburban and rural characteristics. The area is well-known for its parks and access to amenities, as well as its proximity to recreational areas like the Thermalito Forebay and Afterbay. Situated in the flatlands of Butte County, Thermalito lies to the west of Oroville and is primarily surrounded by it, except for a narrow connection to the Afterbay. The community is described as quiet and family-friendly, with a mixture of residential and commercial areas that provide access to shopping, dining, and major highways.

The man who made Thermalito famous

Americo (Giovanni) Camerino Ghianda (Dianda):
Mr.  Ghianda was born in Italy Dec. 2, 1879. At the age of 14, he came alone to America to work for an uncle who operated a fruit store in Sacramento. His connection with the fruit industry, on which he was regarded as an authority, dated from that time. He came to Oroville in 1915. For two years,
the family lived at Pomona and Third avenues, then he purchased the Vince Dal Parto orange grove in Thermalito on Feather River Avenue. A year or two afterwards, he bought the Hatfield place, which extends to 18th street on the south side of Feather River Avenue.

Our New School District Logo

We at the Thermalito Union School District are thrilled to announce the unveiling of our new District branding, which served as inspiration for our new District logo design. Our logo was intentionally designed to showcase the importance of educating students, celebrating the Thermalito community, and promoting a sense of unity between our seven schools. A logo is more than just a symbol; it's a testament to our ongoing commitment to educational excellence and the lasting connections we share within our vibrant community, Thermalito and Oroville.

Our logo's design is a tapestry of a meaningful connection between Thermalitos´ deep historical roots as a citrus fruit and wine place, this area is known for, interwoven with elements that symbolize the unity of our district and our different schools. Our commitment to ensuring our students grow to be healthy adults is illustrated by the Orange Fruit with eight sections, which represent our district and our seven schools, and we serve at the day school, elementary, and middle school levels.

Our new Corporate Type Font:

–
Clear
– Modern

Our Thermalito Union School District has deployed a new Chapter of Unity
and Identity with the Introduction of an updated District Logo and our
updated seven different School Logos.

The journey to update our School District rebranding began in the summer of 2024 when the district initiated the Rebranding and Logos Redesign Project. After thorough consideration, the district selected International Brand Expert Hardy Lahn/Lahn Consultants Intl. for this task.

Following the guidelines established by the Branding/Logo Redesign Committee, and under the leadership of former Superintendent Gregory Blake, current Superintendent Cody Walker, and Bill Harrington, the Director of Culture, Climate, and Communications, the logos for all seven schools were redesigned. This update aimed to unify the logos while preserving each school's unique identity within the overall branding of the Thermalito School District.
