IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MS. SHATKIN FOR OUR RETURN TO SCHOOL
Hello Plumas Families,
The Plumas staff is excited to welcome our A cohort students tomorrow, Monday, November 9th, and Tuesday, November 10th, for their return to school. Our B cohort students will come to school on Thursday and Friday. Please note that all students are required to be working on-line every Wednesday and the other two days they do not come to school (except for this Wednesday, November 11, is a legal holiday). School begins at 8:36am for all students, and dismissal is at 3:03pm. Students may enter campus through the three gates located at the side of the school (parent pick-up), and the front of the school (located next to the flagpole or on the east side of the school by the kindergarten classrooms). A staff member will be at each gate to greet our students and to make sure they know where their classrooms are located. TK and K students are encouraged to enter through the kindergarten gate, and siblings are welcome to enter there as well.
Please note these important safety rules for school:
**All students and staff are required to wear masks and are asked to bring one to school. We will have masks available, if students forget to bring one.
**Drinking fountains have been turned off to prevent the spread of germs at school, but the water filler in the cafeteria and classroom faucets are working. Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to school.
**Parents are asked to make an appointment if there is a need to be on campus, so we can keep our students and staff as safe as possible. Less people on campus will make it easier for all to maintain a safe, social distance. At dismissal time, parents are asked to either drive through the parent pick-up line (on the east side of school) or to park and walk to the gate next to the flagpole where staff members will be posted. Students will all stay in their classrooms at dismissal time until their ride arrives and the teacher is called on the radio to release the students to walk to either the flagpole or parent pick-up. This will take a little longer the first few days, but with fewer students on campus we expect dismissal to go smoothly. Parents/family members will be asked to wait outside of the gates during dismissal time, again to keep congestion down in the hallways and allow for safe distancing.
All students who signed up for distant learning should now have heard from their new teachers. If by chance you have not been contacted (contact was made through phone, email, and texts), please call our office, and we will give you the information you need. There is now a waiting list for distance learning, and all families will now stay with their current learning choice through the second trimester ending in February.
Our office staff is always available to help with any questions you may have, so please don't hesitate to call. We can also help you with any technology challenges that arise, and our computer technician can help as well.
Please note that parents are required to fill out and sign the Covid 19 Screening Agreement for students to come back to school. If you haven't done so, please come to our office where we will have the form for you.
