Mark W. Walker:

Mark Walker moved to the Thermalito area with his wife, Heather, and family from Ontario, California in 1990. Mark's son, Luke, attended Thermalito schools from kindergarten through eighth grade, and his granddaughter, Serena, attended from second through eighth grade.

It was because of them that Mark decided to run for election to the school board in 1998. As a parent, and grandparent, Mark felt it was his civic duty to make the Thermalito Union School District the best it could be, not only for his son and granddaughter, but also for their friends and fellow students.

Since his election to the Board, Mark feels he made the right choice. As one member of the Thermalito Union School District team, he feels he has made a positive difference. He admits he hasn't done it alone and he would like to give a big "thank you" to everyone who has helped accomplish the things we all take pride in. Together we have made a positive difference.

Susan Dunn:

Born and raised in San Diego, Susan and her husband, Terry Sr., moved to Oroville in 1980, and have been proud residents of Thermalito since 1987. Both of their children, Terry Jr. and Timm, attended Thermalito schools from kindergarten to eighth grade.

Susan loves being a member of the Board of Trustees in the Thermalito Union School District. Her only wish is that she had gotten involved years sooner.

Cindy Dubie:

First elected to the Board of Trustees in 2000 now employed at the Sheriff's Department, Cindy Dubie grew up in Oroville. After attending three Thermalito schools (Poplar, Sierra and Nelson Avenue), Cindy graduated from Oroville High School in 1988, and later Chico Beauty College. Her youngest son attended Poplar Ave. from Kindergarten to fourth grade and now attends Sierra Avenue Elementary School for his fifth grade. Her older son is a sophmore at U.C. Davis after having attended Thermalito schools from second through eighth grades and graduating Salutatorian from Oroville High School. Cindy enjoys visiting each of the Thermalito Schools and interacting with the children and staff.

Bob Lerner:

Bob Lerner is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Thermalito Union School District. He has served on the Board for four years, one as Board president. Bob has lived in Thermalito all but two of his forty-seven years. He attended Thermalito schools from kindergarten through eighth grade, as did his wife, Debbie, and their two children.

Bob's focus during his tenure on the school board is to help ensure that Thermalito schools provide a place where our children can continue to get a high quality education.

Heather Walker :

I've been very involved in Thermalito schools since my youngest son began attending them. I've volunteer in the classrooms, taught art  to the students, reviewed school text books and helped in whatever way I can.  I've attended board meetings for years because I want to make sure that this school district provides its students and community with the best education possible.

My goals are to encourage even more parent involvement in our schools and with our board. I love being stopped on the street and asked questions by parents - listening and being responsive is a big part of what a board does.  The children in our community are our future; we owe it to them to give them a great education to prepare them for that future.  Our district has taken on some monumental projects that are now coming to fruition, including the new gym and a new school.  It's exciting to be part of a district that's serving students so well.
